Description
The Proclamation is enacted to establish one strong law enforcement public prosecution institution which can comprehensively protect public and government interest and deliver uniform, effective and efficient service. The Federal Attorney General (FAG), according to article 6(4) (e) &(f), has the responsibility to represent victims of crimes who don’t have financial means to conduct litigation or negotiations for their compensation, reinstitution and protection of their civil interests arising from the damage sustained. Article 30(2) of the Refugee Proclamation states that refugees may have access to legal counseling or assistance provided in accordance with the laws of Ethiopia. Regarding employment opportunity, as per article 11(2) (d), provides that one of the requirements that must be fulfilled for appointment as a public prosecutor is that of Ethiopian nationality.
