It outlines the eligibility criteria for asylum seekers, including those facing persecution due to race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group. Subsidiary protection is extended to individuals who do not meet the strict criteria for asylum but who face a real risk of serious harm, such as torture or threats to life, if returned to their country of origin.
