Description
This is the Act on Accession of Iran to the 1951 Convention and the 1967 Protocol.
(passed by the parliament, 25 August 1976).
In 1976 Iran acceded to the 1951 Convention and its 1967 Protocol, albeit with reservations to Article 17 (wage-earning employment), Article 23 (public relief), Article 24 (labour legislation and social security) and Article 26 (freedom of movement).
Single Article - Convention relating to the Status of Refugees of 28 July 1951 contains an introduction and forty-six articles and an appendix and a Protocol dated 31 January 1967 including an introduction and eleven articles are approved provided that:
1. All cases in which refugees are subject to Most-favoured-nation Treatment of a foreign State under this Convention, the Government of Iran reserves the right to exclude refugees of the Most-favoured-nation Treatment when there are specific regional residential, customs, economic and political agreements.
2. The Government of Iran considers the provisions of Articles 17, 23, 24 and 26 to be merely recommendations.
The above law consists of an article and the text of the convention, annex and its protocol has been approved by the Parliament on 25 August 1976.
