Description

The Refugees Amendment Act No. 33 of 2008 updates the Refugees Act 130 of 1998 to modernize South Africa’s asylum procedures by replacing the Refugee Appeal Board with an independent Refugee Appeals Authority, refining who qualifies for protection (for example, excluding persons who have committed serious non‐political crimes),  and imposing clear timeframes for processing and appealing applications.
