Description

The Constitution of Libya, based on the Constitutional Declaration of 2011, establishes the country as an independent democratic state with Islam as the state religion and the principal source of law. The Constitution addresses political asylum under Article 18, ensuring that political refugees cannot be extradited, except to an international judiciary.

Article 18 - Political Asylum

The State shall guarantee political asylum. Political refugees may not be extradited, unless to international judiciary. The conditions and circumstances shall be regulated by law.
