Year: 2022
Type: Domestic law
Rights Category: Asylum
Description
The Explanatory Memorandum to the Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules (HC 1220) explains that, under sections 1(4) and 3(2) of the Immigration Act 1971, the Home Secretary has amended the Rules to introduce three Ukraine-related routes—the fee-free Ukraine Family Scheme for immediate and certain extended relatives of UK sponsors; the Homes for Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme for Ukrainians with approved hosts; and the Ukraine Extension Scheme allowing Ukrainians already in the UK on 18 March 2022 (and their partners and children) to remain. It also brings forward a new Appendix defining partner-relationship proof, initially for these Ukraine routes, and makes minor technical amendments to application validity, refusal grounds and public-funds definitions.
