The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom, is located in northwestern Europe and comprises England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Its capital, London, is the seat of government. The United Kingdom is a unitary state with a parliamentary system and a constitutional monarchy.
According to RiMAP, the United Kingdom is party to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness. The Common European Asylum System developed by the European Union does not apply to the United Kingdom.
