Description

The Constitution of Italy was enacted on December 27, 1947, and establishes Italy as a democratic republic, affirming principles of liberty, equality, and social justice through 139 articles. Article 10 describes how Italy’s legal system must align with international law, stating that foreigners whom are denied democratic values within their own country "shall be entitled to the right of asylum within the territory of the Republic, under conditions laid down by law".
