Description
The Constitution of Angola declares Angola as a unitary and democratic republic, establishing key principles such as the separation of powers, fundamental human rights, and the rule of law. ​Article 71 stipulates the right to asylum for foreign or stateless individuals facing persecution for political reasons, particularly those threatened or persecuted due to their efforts in promoting democracy, national independence, peace, freedom, and human rights.

Constitution of the Republic of Angola - Generic
1. All foreign or expatriate citizens shall be guaranteed the right to asylum in the event of persecution for political reasons, namely those involving serious threat or persecution as a result of their work for democracy, national independence, peace amongst different peoples, liberty and human rights, in accordance with the laws in force and international instruments.
2. The law shall define the status of political refugees.
