Description

​The Constitution of Guinea-Bissau, adopted in 1984 and subsequently amended in 1991, 1993, and 1996, establishes the nation as a sovereign, democratic, secular, and unitary republic.  According to article 28: foreigners and stateless persons residing or present in Guinea-Bissau, based on reciprocity, enjoy the same rights and are subject to the same duties as nationals, except for political rights, holding public offices, and other rights and duties expressly reserved by law for national citizens. The exercise of public functions by foreigners is permitted only if they are predominantly technical, unless otherwise stipulated by international treaties or agreements.
