Description
The Constitution of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana establishes Guyana as an indivisible, secular, democratic sovereign state . It establishes the Constitution as the supreme law of Guyana, asserting its precedence over all other laws. Article 149 protects individuals from discrimination based on race, place of origin, political opinions, color, creed, age, disability, marital status, sex, gender, language, birth, social class, pregnancy, religion, conscience, belief, or culture. It prohibits the creation or enforcement of laws or practices that result in discriminatory treatment or unequal privileges.
