Description
The Constitution of Latvia (Satversme) establishes the country as an independent democratic republic, defining its governmental structure and fundamental rights. Article 89 states that the state shall recognize and protect fundamental human rights in accordance with the Constitution, laws, and international agreements binding upon Latvia. Article 91 ensures that all individuals are equal before the law and the courts, with human rights realized without discrimination.
