Description

The Constitution of the Russian Federation establishes the legal and political framework of the country. Article 63 specifies that the Russian Federation shall grant political asylum to foreign citizens and stateless persons in accordance with universally recognized norms of international law. This is further addressed in Article 89 a) which states that the President decides on issues of citizenship and the granting of political asylum.
