Country context

The Kyrgyz Republic, commonly known as Kyrgyzstan, is a landlocked country in Central Asia bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China. Its capital and seat of government is Bishkek. The country is a unitary, democratic, secular republic with a presidential system. Kyrgyzstan is party to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees. It is not party to the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons or the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.
