Country context

Malaysia, commonly known as Malaysia, is located in Southeast Asia, consisting of territories on the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo, and bordering Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei. Its capital, Kuala Lumpur, hosts the legislature, while Putrajaya is the administrative centre where the executive government is based. Malaysia is a federal state with a parliamentary system and a constitutional monarchy.

Malaysia is not party to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons or the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.
