Turkmenistan, commonly known as Turkmenistan, is a country in Central Asia bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran, with a coastline on the Caspian Sea. Its capital, Ashgabat, is the centre of government. Turkmenistan is a unitary state with a presidential system of government. 

Turkmenistan is party to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons and the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness.
