The Republic of Zimbabwe (Zimbabwe) is located in Africa, in the Southern Africa sub‑region. It is a landlocked country bordered by Zambia to the north, Mozambique to the northeast and east, South Africa to the south, and Botswana to the west. The capital city is Harare, which serves as the seat of government and hosts the main national institutions. Zimbabwe is a unitary State with a presidential system of government, in which executive authority is exercised by a president and legislative authority is vested in a national parliament. 

Zimbabwe is party to the 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol relating to the Status of Refugees, as well as the 1954 Convention relating to the Status of Stateless Persons, and is not party to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness. Zimbabwe is also party to the 1969 OAU Convention governing the Specific Aspects of Refugee Problems in Africa and the 2009 African Union Convention for the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa (Kampala Convention).
