Do domestic laws and policies provide for the cessation of refugee status?

Analysis
The Migration and Aliens Law and its Regulations do not contain specific provisions regulating the cessation of refugee status or reproducing the grounds set out in Article 1C(1)-(6) of the 1951 Convention. Articles 48 and 49 of the Migration and Aliens Law regulate voluntary repatriation and the possibility of requesting refugee status again in the event of circumstances arising after repatriation. While these provisions may relate to situations involving a voluntary return to the country of origin, they do not establish a specific cessation framework nor address all of the grounds contained in Article 1C of the Convention.
No express provision concerning cessation based on a fundamental and durable change of circumstances in the country of origin, as contemplated in Articles 1C(5) and 1C(6) of the Convention, was identified in the legislation reviewed. Likewise, the legal framework examined does not expressly develop the exception relating to compelling reasons arising out of previous persecution.
