Description
This Civil Code of Madagascar provides a comprehensive statutory framework for private law, organized into four main parts: (1) general internal and private international law provisions governing the effect, interpretation, and promulgation of laws, public order, non-retroactivity, and judicial competence; (2) personal and family law covering civil status, domicile, nationality, the condition of foreigners, marriage, filiation, adoption, matrimonial regimes, succession, and child protection; (3) property and securities law; and (4) obligations and contracts, including both general theory and a range of special contracts (sale, lease, bail, company law, associations, etc.).
