Description
Migration Law No. 25.871 regulates several aspects of human mobility in Argentina, including: a) principles that should governm migration, including the fulfilment of international human rights and humanitarian treaties; b) human rights and due process guarantees recognized to all migrants, regardless their immigration status; c) categories of residence and conditions/requisites for each of them; d) migration procedures, including for getting a residence, and in cases of expulsion; e) entry conditions at borders, returns, remedies.
In May 2025, Presidential Decree 366/2025 reformed Migration Law. This modification includes aspects as: a) access to health services and public high education by foreigners with several residence status, which could impact asylum seekers and refugees; b) restrictions at borders and refoulement practiceds; c) fast-track deportation procedures; d) new restrictions for accessing to nationality.
