Description

The Law outlines the legal framework for refugees, including extradition procedures, the legal status of refugees, and the competent bodies and their functions in refugee matters. It also details the procedure for determining refugee status.

Presidential Decree 924/2024 used the faculty regulated in the Constitution that gives the Executive Power the possibility of reforming a law in exceptional cases of necessity and urgency. The Decree reformed Refugee Law, particularly in the following aspects: a) adding new grounds for denying and ceasing the refugee status; b) reducing all the phases of the administrative and judicial procedure for refugee status determination; and c) derogating the administrative appeal against a negative decision by the CONARE, leaving only the remedy before a court of justice.
