This is the Constitution of Cape Verde, revised by Constitutional Law No. 1/VII/2010. It establishes Cape Verde as a sovereign and democratic republic and include the right to asylum at Article 39.

Article 39 - Right to Asylum

1. Os estrangeiros ou apátridas perseguidos por moti
vos políticos ou seriamente ameaçados de perseguição em
virtude da sua actividade em prol da libertação nacional,
da democracia, ou do respeito pelos direitos do homem,
têm direito de asilo no território nacional.
2. A lei defi ne o estatuto do refugiado político.
