Description
The German Basic Law (Grundgesetz) includes at Article 16 the right to asylum for individuals fleeing political persecution, with provisions detailing the conditions under which this right may be restricted or denied based on European or international standards. The Constitution also stipulates that all individuals, are treated equally under the law and protected from arbitrary extradition.
