Description
The Constitution of Yemen defines the country as an Arab, Islamic, independent state, with Islamic Shari'ah as the primary source of legislation. Article 46 of the Constitution states that the extradition of political refugees is prohibited. Additionally, Article 119.16 grants the power to grant political asylum to the President of the Republic.
