Description

The Constitution is foundational to the governance of Benin and ensures that all citizens' rights are protected while establishing a democratic system of governance. The Constitution of Benin does not contain specific references to refugees however, it emphasizes human rights and international cooperation. Article 39 states that foreigners enjoy the same rights and freedoms as Beninese citizens under the law.
