Do domestic laws and policies provide for protection from refoulement?
Assessment by population
Analysis
Burkina Faso recognizes the right to seek asylum and protects asylum seekers from being forcibly returned to dangerous situations, as outlined in article 8 of Law No 042/2008/AN on refugee's status. According to it, no asylum seeker can be forcibly returned to the border or subjected to any other measures that would compel them to return or remain in a territory where their life, physical integrity, or freedom would be threatened for one of the reasons indicated in Article 3 of the law (see inclusion).
