"Live births in public or private hospitals or health centers shall be mandatorily registered based on the Statistical Report of Live Birth within three days following the birth, upon prior notification by the health establishment of the vital event. The indication of the names under which the newborn will be registered by the father or the mother shall be mandatory, without prejudice to the right to modify them within a period of ninety days. Registrations made within this granted legal period shall be called ordinary.

After ninety days from the occurrence of the event, they shall be considered extraordinary, in which case the provisions of this Law shall be complied with, and the requirements shall be determined in the corresponding Regulation.

In the case of persons over 18 years of age, the registration of their birth shall be carried out through judicial means."

"Plazo para la inscripción del nacimiento. Los nacidos vivos en hospitales o centros de salud públicos o privados serán inscritos obligatoriamente con sustento en el Informe Estadístico de Nacido Vivo durante los tres días posteriores al nacimiento, previa notificación del establecimiento de salud respecto del hecho vital. Será obligatoria la indicación de los nombres con los que se inscribirá al recién nacido por parte del padre o la madre, dejando a salvo el derecho a modificarlos en el plazo de noventa días. Las inscripciones efectuadas dentro este plazo legal concedido se llamarán ordinarias.
Pasados los noventa días de ocurrido el hecho, se considerarán extraordinarias, en cuyo caso se deberá cumplir con lo establecido en la presente Ley, y los requisitos serán determinados en el correspondiente Reglamento.
Para el caso de personas mayores de 18 años, la inscripción de su nacimiento se efectuará mediante vía judicial."
