Do domestic laws and policies provide for protection from refoulement?
Assessment by population
Analysis
Under Nigerien law, the refoulement of a refugee to a territory where their life and/or freedom would be threatened due to their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinions is strictly prohibited under paragraph 2 of Article 6 of the 1997 Asylum Law. However, the first paragraph of this same article is more ambiguous, as it prohibits the refoulement of asylum seekers and refugees, except for reasons related to national security or public order.

Legal provision
Article 6 - Non-refoulement
